Queen Beatrix will be 72 years old tomorrow.
I hope your Majesty that you will give your thrown to your son this year so that you can enjoy the rest of your life traveling the world or visiting your family and friends. It's time to enjoy life and time to give the crown to your son Prince Willem-Alexander.

the NeTheRLands PoPsTaR 2009, YOU RAISE ME UP

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.
[Instrumental break]
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

You raise me up... To more than I can be.

FuNNy MoNdaY, differences between You and YouR boss

1. When you take a long time, you're slow.
    When your boss takes a long time, he's thorough.
2. When you don't do it, you're lazy.
    When your boss doesn't do it, he's too busy.
3. When you make a mistake, you're an idiot.
    When your boss makes a mistake, he's only human.
4. When doing something without being told, you're overstepping your authority.
    When your boss does the same thing, that's initiative.
5. When you take a stand, you're being pig-headed.
    When your boss does it, he's being firm.
6. When you overlooked a rule of ettiquette, you're being rude.
    When your boss skips a few rules, he's being original.
7. When you please your boss, you're arse-creeping.
    When your boss pleases his boss, he's being co-operative.
8. When you're out of the office, you're wandering around.
   When your boss is out of the office, he's on business.
9. When you're on a day off sick, you're always sick.
   When your boss has a day off sick, he must be very ill.
10. When you apply for leave, you must be going for an interview.
    When your boss applies for leave, it's because he's overworked.
How's your boss? Is he like this?
AIM TO BE A BOSS...then you will have all the advantages.

Building or Buying a House?

Last month my sister started building her house. This is her second house. The house where she and her family live is old but she had it many times renovated. Since she has already experience in building a house, she knows already where to buy the construction materials so, her experience makes it easier for her. She has to buy everything from nails to roof materials. She has to pay the workers in weekly basis. This is a three-story house, the floor area is approximately 300 square meters. It is quite big because she has a big family. At first she plans to move on April but sometimes the construction stops because of the weather. The weather is not cooperating, it rains all the time, so maybe she can move on May or June.
Building a house is not easy. Aside from the expenses, it is very stressful. If ever I wanted to have a new house, I would ask the specialists and contractors to build it, they are the real Builders. I don't need to hire architects, structural engineers, and workers. From general building to minor works, the interior accessories like bathroom, cabinets and kitchen, I will leave everything to them. I would rather buy a ready-made house where I could immediately put the furniture and other stuffs than stressing my self, buying materials and watching the workers all the time. No more stress. Hassle-free.
Are you planning to build a house? Plan wisely.

We always watch the tv show "Looking for Mary Poppins" every Sunday. Yesterday evening was the final round. My favourite contestant Noortje Herlaar grabbed the role of Mary Poppins. Noortje is 22 yrs. old and was born in Maassluis. On April 11 the Mary Poppins, theater show will be seen at Scheveningen.
I was very happy for her since she was my favourite. She sings, acts and dances very good. The best theater actrice I ever seen. I think the best actrices and actors  in the showbusiness, are the theater performers. They perform live, act, dance and sing at the same time. They are great performers. I saw Miss Saigon two times here in the Netherlands. Two times because we liked it very much.
Have you seen any theater show?

Two MiLLion Meals for Haitians

Haiti food distribution is going well.
Ten days after the earthquake in Haiti food distribution to the victims has started to come in order. The World Food Programme has handed out Friday two million meals. That's nearly twice as much as one day earlier. "This is the most complex job we've ever had," says an employee of the UN.
The biggest problem is that the infrastructure in Haiti is completely destroyed. "Parts of Port-au-Prince looks like a war zone," says the UN.

INVEST--- put your money in trust

Our country is still struggling economic crisis, so many people became jobless, many companies like banks, insurance, factories were bankrupt. Last year many people were put on the street. Companies tried to find ways to rescue their people but after a long time finding ways to save the firm, they found no better ways and  opted to pay their people, sell the company or close the business. I hope this year that our economy will be stable so that many people can go back to their jobs or can find new job.
Nowadays it is very difficult if your partner alone  brings income especially if you have kids. Children are growing proportional to their needs. My kids are already big, eventually I can work part-time. It is very difficult to find a job since I don't have any experience. So, I must have to undergo training first which brings nothing. In the meantime I want to earn money online. While surfing in the net how to earn money online I came across this InvestmentForge, simple and modern way to earn money online. I want to earn something, if not much at least something that I can help my hubby. I don't have any experience about investments. I want to deepen my knowledge about this, so any of you out there have any experience about investments?

Our First Car

One day my boyfriend, who is my husband now, sent me three pictures of cars. He asked me what car I liked. I chose honda accord. So when I arrived here, he had honda accord. The color was light blue. That was a good, big and nice car. All accessories inside and outside  the car were from honda. Whenever he needed honda accessories like tires, head and tail lights, car care products,  he bought them online by the honda dealers. He never went to shops. He had two kinds of tires, ordinary and winter tires. In the winter, when there is snow, he goes to the honda garage and have the winter tires installed. These tires give extra grip on the snow avoiding from sliding. He will never take risks driving on dangerous and slippery road. I really liked that car. We had that car for three years. The car we have now is our third car. The color is red. We bought it last year. It is just big enough for four. Last week we had our first problem. Every Monday my husband does our grocery. When he started the car, it did not start. My hubby called his friend to buy new battery and installed it. He knew already that he needed new battery. So, hoping that we don't need to buy battery in coming four or five years.

Fund raising for Haiti

De Samenwerkende Hulporganisaties (The Cooperating Aid agencies) in the Netherlands have so far raised 10.6 million euros for Haiti. This was reported on Radio 555. The show began at 6.00 and lasts until 9:00 yesterday evening on tv.
Radio 555 is on Radio 2, 3FM, Radio Netherlands and the four commercial channels aim to collect money for earthquake victims in Haiti.
There was a fundraising for the victims of Haiti on four television channels yesterday evening from 8.30 to 10.00. It was participated by the Prime Minister, politicians, actors and actresses, artists and many more. Viewers can buy thirty seconds air time in which they can dance, rap, magic or whatever.
The amount collected on giro 555 was announced at the end of the program. Minister Koenders of Foreign Affairs doubles the amount. Money that comes after, is not doubled.
A very good initiative of the Dutch government to help other people.

Healthy Food from Healthy Cooking

I arrived here last August 2008 and received a welcome gift from my husband, a convection toaster oven. He knows that I like cooking. The most versatile gift I ever had. I can broil few pieces of chicken wings in the oven, not using our big oven which costs more energy just broiling few pieces. The oven becomes hot in no time. You don't need to wait for a long time to put your food inside the oven compared to big oven which takes time to be warm. It is very functional. I cook, bake and broil through convection. I cooked sticky rice last time. I cook potatoes and vegetables in the oven. The potatoes and veggies taste awesome. The potatoes are floury which we like very much and the vegetables are crunchy, not wet. I slice the potatoes and vegetables in bite pieces, sprinkle a little bit of salt, put in the pyrex bowl, no water and then in the oven. The hanging water will cook the veggies or potatoes. You select the weight and then turn on. While it is cooking you can do other household chores. That is fantastic. The oven has a 60-minute timer control with bell. When you hear the bell then it is done or you have to mix. Last week I cooked french beans, my daughter liked it. I prepared only 300 grams because I thought my kids would not eat but my daughter was asking for more. Next time I will prepare more. Henceforth I cook potatoes and vegetables in the oven. The food is very tasty and above all  very healthy. I use the oven everyday. Very easy, and convenient cooking  in the oven. Having convection toaster oven makes cooking more relax and comfortable.

An Old Friend

Nowadays there are so many ways to look beautiful like having lipo, nose lift, breast enlargement and reduction, eyelid surgery, etc. Liposuction was the first cosmetic surgery I heard when I was a kid. The most popular area before was the abdomen. Actresses had it first but now ordinary people can afford it.
Talking about cosmetic surgery and its popularity this time, my old friend had a nose lift. When I visited my family, I heard from my sister that one of my elementary classmates  had a nose lift. I reacted wow!, she did? My sister told me that she did not recognize my classmate anymore. She looked different in a positive way. I was surprised because my classmate before was a very naive and shy girl. I was happy for her. They had a long conversation, my classmate asked about me and my family. Their conversation ended up inviting each other. She is married to a seaman but they do not have kids. I can imagine if one has no kids so she has to find way to make her busy and spend her money. She doesn't have hobbies. Her time is spent 100 percent for herself and her husband who seldom goes home.
I want to try brow lift someday because that rejuvenates your entire face. It will change the whole expression of your face to a brighter and more relaxed look. I am very curious.
Have you tried any simple cosmetic surgeries like nose lift, face lift or eyelid surgery?

Netherlanders in Haiti

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported that there were 22 Dutch missing in the Haiti tragedy. On Tuesday there were eighteen people who have not been located and today four are added. There were dead bodies found in the rubble of a collapsed hotel in a suburb of Port-au-Prince, until today were not identified. These are two adults and one child were found in the ruins of Villa Therese. This is the latest Dutch news. I hope that no more dead bodies be found. What I mean, I hope that the number of deaths will not rise.

By learning you will teach...

by teaching you will learn.
I have started blogging since last year May 2009. One of my friends told me about blogging. She said that blogging is fun. With the help of my other friend who have been blogging for 2 years, I made my first blog. This is my second blog. Yes, blogging is fun. My family can follow us in my blog. They just open my blog and there they can view our pictures and know our activities here.
I have a lot of friends who helped me in doing the layout and choosing the template. At first I was very busy the whole day trying to search gadgets, widgets and  tips how to make blog. I have visited so many search engines like Rapidshare Search Engine where you can download software, movies and many more. I have learned a lot aside from the tips given by my friends. Being resourceful and creative, I made my blog in a week. I have been changing layouts and templates many times. How to make blogscroll, how to shorten post by using Read more..., how to add or change code in the html, how to resize pictures in the posts are just few of the things I have learned. I will keep on learning through searching in the net and visiting other blogs. I am not only writing our activities here but also learning about computer programs. Visitors and bloggers who landed in my blog may learn something through reading my posts. I am always here to teach others if they want to know something which I know. I am learning all the time and will keep on learning.
Learning is a continuous process so, Keep On Learning and share what you have learned!

Our Furniture

We have been looking for modern bedroom sets because our sets are already old. Our old bedroom sets have a beech color. They are old and paints have faded. They don't fit to our new furniture. So, I searched in the internet for modern bedroom sets. I found so many websites. I am so dazed with the designs because there are so many to choose from classic, contemporary and many more.

I like this one. It is lacquered finish. It looks very luxurious. Black and white fit to our style. Black, red and white are chic colors. My hubby has an elegant taste when it comes to home furniture. He chooses modern designs like the salon table in our living room is black tempered glass with silver legs. Our television furniture is black and lacquered finish. We are waiting for our red leather couch which be will delivered next month. Our cupboards in the kitchens are red with black accent color. So, this dynamic design bed looks very elegant in our bedroom. I can imagine lying cosy on this bed with my favorite magazine.
Do you like your bedroom sets?
What is the color of your furniture?

93 WinD TurBineS

Wind energy is very popular in the Netherlands. The country is trying to be environmental friendly. Most of our electrical energy is from nature. There is a project over three years to  add 93 wind turbines in the Province of Flevoland, where I live. This is to generate more wind energy.

How about in your country, do you have windmills?
Does your government try to look for other means to get clean energy?
Are you aware of global warming?
Do you minimize using plastic products like plastic bags, etc?
Do you teach your children to put their plastic waste in the trash can?
Do you do recycling (esp. plastic)? I did.

A Cheap Seat for Concerts, Sports and Theater

It is a boring Tuesday. I have nothing important to attend to. So, I just hang around googling, playing games and blogging. I have visited the site where I could buy tickets for the concert of our favorite Dutch group. The tickets were sold out. It is a pity for me. I really like the group. They have a special concert this May so I will ask my hubby to buy the tickets this evening in the net. How easy it is to order tickets via the net. You don't need to go out to buy tickets for the shows like concerts, sports and theater. There are so many websites where you can buy tickets like acheapseat.com. Photographs and Memories

My hubby was very busy the whole weekend installing programs and making back-ups of our photographs in his computer. When he was finished making the back-ups, he called me and showed the pictures of the kids when they were still babies. I was teasing Annabel and Kevin because they thumb sucked. When the kids saw the pictures, they said eeewww. They did not like their pictures.

Another picture which captured me was the picture of our Mercedes car. That was the nicest car we ever had. We sold the car to my hubby's friend when we moved to the Philippines. I love that car. It is big and very comfortable. I told my husband, we could not buy that car anymore. It is now very expensive. I was just  very curious about the price of  the car. To satisfy my curiosity I searched in the internet and came across this website phoenix auto dealers. They specialize in Mercedes-Benz. I saw new models. Our car was Mercedes-Benz CLK. We ordered it in November 2000. We had the car in January 2001. I just look at the pictures and enjoy the memories of that car. We cannot buy that car anymore. We have just bought a house two months ago. Our priority now is to buy things for our house. If ever we buy a Mercedes-Benz, I will go back to this website. For now, we have a good car.
Do you ever experience looking at old photographs and reminisced wonderful memories?

Netherlands New Year's Tradition: New Year's Dive 2010

New Year's Dive (Nieuwjaarsduik) is one of the Dutch traditions.
The oldest New Year's Dive is organised in Zandvoort. In 1960 Ok Batenburg and a group of swimmers from Haarlem have started this tradition. The number of participants increases every year.
I cannot imagine swimming in a very cold water. You must be crazy swimming in 1 degree celsius water. BRrrrrrrrrr!!They may have crazy traditions but Dutch people are very respectful, family-centered, loving and caring.

LooKinG BacK 2009

It nice to start this year with a short recapulation of the events in 2009. Looking back 2009, I did many things which I am very thankful for. Last year July 2009 I started this blog. I gained many visitors, commenters and bloggers. I met friends through blogging like Dhemz of My Life's Perception and Inspiration and Shie of ALoHa Gems. They had helped my a lot in blogging. I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart.
After three months of blogging I had PR 3 then a month later I had my first paidpost. Isn't it great! I am now receiving ads from different advertisers. That is not much but I enjoy making posts for them.

I hope 2010 will bring you and...me a better life, more blessings, more tasks/opps, and especially GOOD HEALTH.

About this Blog

I make this blog for foreigners who will live in this country, THE NETHERLANDS. Foreigners who are engaged or married they have to learn a lot of things about their new home like the culture, architectures, landscape, government, dikes etc. Especially the Dutch language which is very important in their social life. It is very difficult if they cannot communicate with other people. Most people speak Dutch, only few speaks English.
For visitors and readers, this will give you an idea what this country is. This small country ranks no. 5 in the economic stability in EUROPE. Their architectures like palaces, castles, dikes, ports (air and sea) are amazing.
Their culture is very interesting.
