Words With Friends

December 26 was my first time to play Words With Friends on Facebook. I would admit that I am addicted to that game. Words with Friends is another name for Scrabble. I started playing scrabble when I was 18 years old (I think). That is one of my favorite board games. The last time that I played scrabble on the computer was in 1997 since then I never had the time or desire to play.
Word Feud I heard that from my sister-in-law when she was here last December 10 on my hubby's birthday. My longing to play the game again was back. I have not played for a long time. But it is a pity because Word Feud can only be placed in android and iPhone devices. I only have nokia. So, I searched on the net if I can play scrabble via Facebook. After hours of searching I was able to place my first word on Words with Friends. Sometimes I play four games at the time until midnight. It sharpens my brain that has not been used for years. I came across words which I did not know. Never mind as long as win the game.
Let's us play Words With Friends on Facebook.

Drink Moderately

This time of the year parties are everywhere. Soft and hard drinks are served.
This infographic shows us that we must be aware the results or effects of alcohol in our behaviour and especially in our body. The volume of alcohol, impairment and blood alcohol content are shown clearly on this graphic.
I sometimes drink a glass of wine in the party. A glass of table wine has 12% alcohol. I never knew this. But alcohol is good for the body to a limited intake.
Drink moderately and Be aware of the consequences.

The Second Day of Christmas

December 26 is the second day of Christmas. Everything is in its place. A quiet and normal day for us. I went to the supermarket nearby to buy milk. We runned out of milk this morning. I cannot wait until tomorrow. Everybody drinks milk. We need milk in our cereals for breakfast.
We have just finished eating our dinner. I baked some pizza. Kids love to knead the pizza dough. They were having fun this afternoon while kneading their own dough. My boy put mushrooms, ham and topped his pizza with grated cheese. My girl made a ham and cheese pizza. A big pizza for us. Mushrooms, pineapple chunks and onions made my pizza delectable. Pizza without mozarella is not a pizza. Mozarella cheese had completed my yummy pizza. Half an hour from now we will have cheese fondue.
It is really a big fatty day!

Christmas 2011

The Dutch people celebrate Christmas for two days December 25 and 26. Most of the people celebrate christmas in their own house, only few went out for Christmas dinner. On the second day of Christmas they spend it by visiting family and friends. Yesterday evening my mother-in-law was here to join us celebrate this important event of the year. When my hubby came to pick her up just then she realized that she did not buy any gift for us. Never mind, she is already 84 years old and she begins to forget some things. But the most important she did remember the kids.
We had fondue. Chicken, pork tenderloin, fresh shrimps and salmon, meat balls and mushrooms were ready to be dipped in the hot oil (fondue pan). I like fondue because I do not need to stand in the kitchen for hours to prepare the dinner. My kids liked the shrimps, meat balls and mushrooms. I did not prepare any desserts because after dinner we had coffee and cocktail snacks. A cup of coffee machiatto was served by my hubby after dinner. Around 9 pm we had cocktail snacks. Grandma went home around 10:30 pm. I went to bed around 12 midnight. It was a fantastic evening!
How did you spend Christmas?

Anti-ageing Supplement

I have just noticed that my energy is becoming less. I sometimes play with the kids. We sit on the floor and play some board games. It is difficult for me to stand up after playing the game. When I do the same work at a period of time my shoulder hurts. These are the changes in my body that I have noticed now. I need to take some vitamin supplements to gain my energy and strength back. Eating variety of food is not just enough because I am very choosy of the fruits and food I eat. I have just read an article about DHEA. DHEA stands for Dehydroepiandrosterone.
As we grow older especially when we are above 35 years old the DHEA supply in our body decreases. This hormone is produced by the adrenal gland. To maintain the right amount of DHEA in our body we need to take some DHEA tabs which the best way. For stress reduction and other body malfunctions you should take DHEA. For more info about the products please visit dhea uk and also for dhea uk delivery at www.vitasunn.co.uk. The supplement facts and ingredients about dhea tabs are very important to know. This dhea tab from Natrol is vegetarian safe! DHEA is very hard to purchase in the UK but dhea uk supplier is there to supply your needs.

Study For A Better Job

To land a good job in a non-English speaking country is very difficult. One must first study the language and then follow a college or university education. Going to college or university here is very expensive. So, some people prefer to study at home like me. I have been studying bookkeeping since last year. The course consists of four subjects such as Business Economics, Financial Administration, Cost Price Calculations and the Ledger. For me, it is difficult because I do not have any background in bookkeeping and besides it is in Dutch language. Yes, I like math that is why I chose this course. But sometimes I do not understand the answers to the problems. As the sayings goes: "In every problem there is always a solution." But my problem is I do not understand the solution. So, I need to search on the net to find the easiest explanation. Sometimes I landed on an online accounting site which is very helpful. If there are terms that I do not understand in Dutch, I will search the English words. Internet helps me a lot in my study. On January I will take the exams in Financial Administration and Business Economics. Hope to pass and from there apply for a bookkeeping job.

Funny Monday...Exchanged Sandwiches

Two attorneys went into a diner and ordered two drinks. Then they produced sandwiches from their briefcases and started to eat. The waiter became quite concerned and marched over and told them, "You can't eat your own sandwiches in here!" The attorneys looked at each other, shrugged their shoulders and then exchanged sandwiches.

My Apologies! BLOGGERS

comments
I think my blogroll is gone by the wind forever. I have waited for a week to have my links back. They said if you buy a new domain there is a tendency that some gadgets will be gone. After having my new domain, one of my gadgets was gone, my blogroll. No choice, I have to add the links/blogs one by one. I have started yesterday evening visiting and searching for the blogs which had my link. Maybe it will take months to search the blogs that have my link. It is very difficult to find the blogs which have my links.
So, I will ask APOLOGIES to the bloggers whom their blogs are not yet added to my list. If you do not see your blog/s in my blogroll please let me know so that I can add it/them immediately.

Your Links are Gone...

... do not worry they are back soon.

Yesterday evening I bought a domain name for this blog. After configuring the DNS the blogroll was gone. I was a bit worry when I saw my empty blogroll. I have read forums that the blogroll was lost because of my new URL. After four days they will be back, which I really hope or else I will be in big trouble. So, do not worry fellows if you do not see your blogs in my blogroll. They are in a short vacation. Mr Google refreshes them ;)

me-dutchsociety.com, the New Domain Name

I was very happy that this blog has its own domain name.
www.me-dutchsociety.com
The other two blogs of mine have already domain names. My hubby had lot of problems before in installing the DNS and CNAME of my two other blogs, that is why it took awhile for this blog to have its domain name. I have three domain providers. Each blog has different domain providers because we were not satisfied with the services rendered by the previous providers. The domain name of this blog is from mydomein.nl, a Dutch company. I paid 9 euros per year including tax.
If you do not know how to install the DNS go to blogspot and find the anwers to your queries. Blogspot explains clearly "How do I use a custom domain name for my blog?" Follow carefully! You will have your domain name in few minutes after installing the DNS and CNAME.
All I have to do now is to wait for maybe four days until the redirections is done, from blogspot to com.

The Netherlands Team against Moldavia 2011 (1-0)

This match was played in the Kuip Stadion in Rotterdam (it's only one hour from Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands).
The Netherland team players this time were: Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, Dirk Kuyt, Rafael van de Vaart, Mark van Bommel, Robin van Persie, Kevin Strootman, Jeffrey Bruma, Gregory van der Wiel, Erik Pieters, Joris Mathijsen and Michel Vorm. The team played without Wesley Sneijder and Maarten Stekelenburg.
It was raining in the first half. The field was very wet but the game must go on, of  course.
A very good pass from Kuyt to Huntelaar which made a very good chance to score. Huntelaar did it again. Goal!! Klaas-Jan Huntelaar hit a very good right footed shot to the lower right corner from the centre penalty area (aprox. 6 yards) and scored! 1-0 for the Netherlands team after 39 minutes.
The Netherlands team had many chances in scoring but the Moldavian keeper, Stanislav Namasco catched  and stopped the ball several times.
After 77 minutes was the first substitution: Eljero Elia entered for Rafael Van der Vaart for tactical reason.
Erik Pieters committed a foul on Denis Zmeu resulting on a free kick for Moldova but did not score.
The first yellow card was given to Kevin Strootman for a unsporting behaviour. But anyway, the Netherlands team won again.
FIREWORKS! FIREWORKS! FIREWORKS after the game.

Chinese Arts in The Hague

I was in The Hague to get pick up some papers from the Philippine Embassy. From our house to The Hague is around 1.5 hours ride in a train. I have to stop over two times. When I arrived at The Hague Central Station I had to take a tram going to the Philippine Embassy.
One of my blogger friends, Fe of  "Fe's Journey of Life" lives in The Hague. So, I made an appointment with her if we could meet at the Central Station. We have been communicating each other through blog and phone calls for awhile. It was nice to meet some blogger friends. See the wonder of internet! The social media networks are very useful. We met at the Central Station around 12:30 p.m. We took our lunch at KFC, Filipinos favourite fastfood restaurant. After that she showed me the city of The Hague. We went in and out the shopping stores. She brought me to a big old amazing building where the Netherlands Parliament is housed. We saw lots of visitors from different countries. She took these pics for me.
Every year the city of The Hague invites artists to display their arts. This year's artists are from China.
It was a wonderful day. The weather was fine and the meeting of a nice friend made the day extra beautiful. I still have lots of pictures taken in The Hague to be posted. To give you a little perception of The Hague I will post some pics soon.

‘Wie vraagt naar personen
Wie is jullie docente?                          Margreet.
Wie is dat?                                         Mijn broer.

‘Waar’
‘Waar’ vraagt naar plaats
Waar kom je vandaan? Uit de Filippijnen.
Waar woon je nu? In Almere.

Opmerking: het antwoord op een ‘waar’-vraag begint vaak met een voorzetsel.

‘waar’ em ‘waarop’/’waar….op’

Pic of the WeeK---My Collections of Wedgwood Dinner Plates and Sets

One of my blogger friends, Judy of JUDY H-J'S THOUGHTS - A TWINLESS TWIN visits my blogs regularly. Judy, thank you so much for leaving comments! Her recent post is about collections of her favourite bird figurines. I just want to share my collections too.
These wedgwood dinnerware are still in my homeland. I really wanted to have them shipped soon. The shipping is very expensive. In 2004 we moved to the Philippines. We brought everything we had. These wedgwood sets are still packed in plastic boxes. When we were in the Philippines we only used the plates. Some of my friends told me if I could just give these things to my family. "NO" because these things have valuable meaning to me. Some of these wedgwood plates and cups were given to me during my birthdays as a gift. They are priceless to me.
I do not know if I can still buy these designs. I have been surfing on the net but I did not see any of these designs. I have to find first a shipping company which charges a reasonable price before buying new ones. Hope to have them soon!

Why Do Students Quit School?

There are many reasons why students stop schooling. This graphic below shows the reasons why students drop out of school.

Going to university is very expensive that is why students tend to work part-time to pay the tuition fees and miscellaneous. But when they find working is better than studying so they choose to stop schooling.
Another reason maybe is that the standard of education is too high. The students cannot maintain the required ratings and that is why some are disqualified to study further.
Since going to university is expensive many students prefer to study at home which is very good. Studying at home is a very good alternative in pursuing their dreamed career.

Holland's Got Talent Winner 2011

During the exciting and sensational liveshow,  Aliyah got 35% public's votes and was the winner of Holland's Got Talent 2011.

The task of the judges Gordon, Patricia Paay and Dan Karaty that night was only to give advice to the audience whom to vote for.
There were three possible winners. It was very difficult to choose. The competition was very close. The top three performers were very good. Patricia Paay invited the Pop'arazzi Crew and acrobat Boy to her jubilee party on October 15 and Dan Karaty for the time with a teardrop watching the performance of the Pop'arazzi Crew. The act was really impressive and superb. The dance act landed on the 4th place.
The Top Three
The 11-yr. old Aliyah who sung the greatest song of Whitney Housten (I Who Got Nothing) was the night's favourite performer. Aliyah received a brand new car. "How could Aliyah used it she did not have a license yet. She has to wait for 7 yrs. to ride it. :) ". The splendid act of the acrobat Boy received a big support from the audience. Opera Familia, who have amazing voice got the third place. The judges and audience were very satisfied of the result.

It is very nice to know that a new star is born. Congratulations! Aliyah.
It was very difficult to choose because the contestants had different talents. Maybe next time  they could narrow down the criteria that there will be no singing and dancing contestants because there are already Ex Factor, My Name Is... and The Voice of Holland for singing contest; I THINK YOU CAN DANCE for the dance contest. You cannot create a good, valid and fair criteria if the contestants show different performances/acts.
Pop'arazzi Crew for me, the best dancers ever. But anyway, CONGRATULATIONS! to the top three.

What Is A Dutch Door?

A Dutch door (American English) or stable door (British English) or half door (Hiberno English) is a door divided horizontally in such a fashion that the bottom half may remain shut while the top half opens. The initial purpose of this door was to keep animals out of farmhouses, while allowing light and air to filter through the open top. Later modifications included doors where both halves can be closed or opened together.

Dutch doors are often used in North-American passenger train cars to allow crewmen to safely interact with other employees not aboard their trains (or simply to visually inspect their own train) without risking falling from the train. Recent operating rules changes in Canada have rendered the dutch-doors obsolete, although legacy rolling stock retains the doors.

Why do I Blog?

Different topics and events will be posted on my three blogs. The things I saw, heard and experienced will be logged and shared to my readers and visitors. My first blog is about my family. I want to keep memories like pictures and the events that my kids experienced. The culture of the country where I am living now inspires me to blog that is why I made the second blog. You can read about my world wide explorations on my third blog. I want to be updated to the newest happenings around the globe. I am very interested about the development of the technology this time where economic crisis forces to close small companies. There are many small electronic companies that are forced to close because of the ecomonic crisis. The prices of the commodities are getting high. People buy only their personal needs like food, clothes, etc. rather than buying those new computer gadgets.
I have just heard from a friend of mine that the company where she is working will be closed soon. The workers were furious because they were not informed in time. One of the workers has just bought a house. Another one has a newly-born baby. Where shall these people look for another job? How could they pay their monthly expenses like mortgage, electricity, water etc. How could they live with the economic situations now?

It is a big disaster for people who lost their jobs. I really hope that the economic crisis will be fixed soon.
I blog because I want to share to you my perceptions of life.

Snowboartding is an expensive sports.
Before you go on winter sport have all your accessories ready from helmets to boots.
What are the accessories you need when you go on snowboarding?
What kind of snowboards fits you?
There are many types and brands of snowboards. There are many accessories like boots, gloves, jacket, goggles, boards, etc. and different brands to choose from.
If you are a beginner you must ask your instructor all the accessories you need. If you are a professional snow boarder you must go for good quality products for your sport.
The price and quality comparison is an important thing you should pay attention in buying snowboard and accessories when you go on snowboarding.
For your winter clothes, you must have a good warm clothes. You must very careful in choosing your clothes because of sudden change of body temperatures such as overheat through enthusiasm. A jacket - not only fashionable but very functional. Wearing comfortable clothes gives you a good and great feeling on the mountain. A good headgear is also very necessary. Sure, wearing a snowboard helmet and other protective gear might be uncool. You must have to cover your eyes with snowboard goggles like Oakley Snowboard Goggles.
But above all, you cannot go on snowboarding without a good quality snowboard. The most important thing when you go on snowboarding is the snowboard. A good quality snowboard which will fit your needs. You can use it for a long time. It not cheap that is why you should take care of it.
Varnish and sharpen
You must take care of your snowboards. Have it regular sharpen or varnish to a special sport shop. If you see small hairlines on your board then you must varnish it. To give a deceptively attractive appearance to your snowboard. You can have it done or you can do it by yourself. You can buy varnish at the sports stores where the boards are also sold. But it is better to have hot wax. The wax will absorb to the wood and this stays longer than a liquid varnish. Take a bottle of wax with you when you go on winter sport.
It is also best to know how supple or flexible the board is in order to make some cool saltos and how long you will use it so that you will know the kind of board you are going to have.
Play with confidence. Have the right and safe accessories before going to winter sport for comfortable and safe riding.

Financial Solutions During or After Vacation

School vacation has just started. Many people are now packing their things. They drive for kilometers going to Germany, France, Spain, Turkey etc. We do not have plan yet where to spend our vacation. My kids want to stay at home because they enjoy playing with the children in the neighborhood. Some of my friends go to the Philippines to spend their vacation with their family and friends. One of friends is leaving today. They will be staying in her parents house in the province for a week, one week in the city and one week on the beach enjoying the sun and white sand. The rest of year they will sit in financial rocks.
I told her about cash advance online to pay their mortgage, water and electric bills, etc. when they are back from vacation. Cash advances are an ideal solution of  financial concerns. This great loan gives many families relief from financial stress. There are so many cash advance loans on the net like paydayloansonlinehub.com. Low cost, quick approval  and no credit check are guaranteed. Experiencing our economic crisis this time makes it hard for people, even those with jobs, to make their money stretch.
I gave her this website: paydayloansonlinehub.com. Find out what this site can offer or help you in your quick financial needs. So, she knew already where to find a cash advance. At first she was reluctant about payday loan. She thought of accomplishing those requirements would be difficult and waiting for days to be approved. Getting cash advance from paydayloansonlinehub.com is so easy. You can get approved regardless of your financial past or current situation. You can have the money within the same day. You do not have to leave the house and you will not have to stand in line. The idea is to borrow money for a short period of time and then repay the amount of the loan, plus interest, at the end of the loan period.
Yesterday she called me up. Hearing her jolly voice over the phone telling me that was very easy to get a cash advance from paydayloansonlinehub.com. One more thing she likes is that the information is safe and secure, and you will never have to fax any documents to your payday lender.
I just hope that they will have a nice weather during their stay in the Philippines. Starting in the month of June it is already rainy season there.

School Vacation

My kids school vacation had started yesterday. They have 6 weeks vacation. School year 2011-2012 will begin on September 5.  We do not know yet what we are going to do on these free days. The kids want to stay at home because they enjoy playing with the kids in the neighborhood.
There are many things which I enjoy when the kids are free from school. I can wake up late. I do not have to prepare their breakfast. I do not need to bring and pick them up from school. So, I have enough time to sit behind the computer and enjoy surfing on the net. I have been looking for online classes because I wanted to continue my studies which I had started in my homeland. Maybe I can get in some online education, even take some classes through accredited online colleges. "No one is never too old to learn.", that is my motto.
The kids are still in bed. I have to wake them up now because it is already 9:30 in the morning. They went to bed late last night. The sun shines so it is a great day to play outside.

About this Blog

I make this blog for foreigners who will live in this country, THE NETHERLANDS. Foreigners who are engaged or married they have to learn a lot of things about their new home like the culture, architectures, landscape, government, dikes etc. Especially the Dutch language which is very important in their social life. It is very difficult if they cannot communicate with other people. Most people speak Dutch, only few speaks English.
For visitors and readers, this will give you an idea what this country is. This small country ranks no. 5 in the economic stability in EUROPE. Their architectures like palaces, castles, dikes, ports (air and sea) are amazing.
Their culture is very interesting.
